Reasons Why It Is Hard To Leave Unhealthy Relationships.
Some of the different forms of abuse include rape, violence and stalking, and in accordance to a study that was done, it was discovered that, approximately twenty four people are set to undergo such forms of abuse by their partners. One thing about such victims is that, they find it hard to leave such kinds of relationships even though the numbers increase over the years. Such forms of domestic violence on the individuals has made it hard for people to actually leave the relationship because it creates shame, takes advantage of control and at the same time, instills fear to those undergoing such problems. In the end, abusive relationships might result to the death of the victim because they found it hard to leave the relationship. Victims find a hard time figuring out if the relationship is abusive or not and thus, they end up staying there for a long time.
In some societies, they uphold some of the abusive characters that these are being portrayed in the society and this has resulted to some of the behaviors no longer look like abuse. The self-esteem factor is among the signs that a victim might focus on to determine if their relationship is abusive or not. One of the mechanisms that the abuser uses is simply breaking down the self-esteem of the victim, having the victim think that that is the best treatment that they should get. The second sign is that, in every abuser there always comes a pattern of abuse cycle. Conducting an intoxication assault on the victim is the first thing under the abuse cycle where the victim undergoes through harsh treatment and then, the abuser follows up with wrong promises of good behavior.
Although an individual might have decided that they want to leave the relationship, the act of actually leaving is the most difficult of all because they fear that the abuser might hurt them or their family if they leave. With these signs, the person being abused still tends to stick around the abuser because of reasons such as personal responsibility. Most of these victims think that it is their responsibility to change the characters of the abuser and thus, they end up sticking with them for a long time. Apart from feeling responsible towards the abuser, some victims end up having hope that the abuser will change. With this kind of hope, it is not easy for the abuser to change because, they might have been doing this for a long time now and they shall continue doing so as long as the victims allow them.
